Robert Hienz is a qualified electro-technical engineer, and has also had university training specialising in economic and social sciences. He acquired this two-fold expertise first in Germany and then in France (in Toulon), and it propelled him very early on into the energy field. In 1997 he began his career with the General Management of Elektrizitätswerk Wesertal, and in 2000 he joined Fortum Energie, a Hamburg-based energy supplier well-known in northern Europe, as Director of Trading and Member of the Management Committee of Fortum in Germany.
In 2002, he brought his financial and marketing expertise to the E.ON group by joining E.ON Sales and Trading in Munich, first with responsibilities as Product Management Director and then as Director of Sales. In 2005, E.ON Energie A.G. appointed him to the Management Committee as the Member responsible for Sales. In 2008, he took charge of the project to integrate SNET into the E.ON group in the capacity of a Member of the Board of Management, already present in France through the commercialisation of gas and electricity and through renewable energy projects.
Robert Hienz is 40 years old; he is married, and has two children. He is responsible for the Sales and Finances section of E.ON France, which is the umbrella for the entities E.ON Energies S.A.S., SNET, and E.ON Energies Renouvelables.
